Surf Badges
Surf lets you browse badges from across the Nostr network. Discover what people are creating and awarding — no login required.
How It Works
Open the Surf tab to see badges published on Nostr relays. Badge Box fetches badge definitions from multiple relays and displays them in a browsable grid.
Open Surf
Click the Surf tab in the navigation bar.
Browse Badges
Scroll through the grid or use search to find something specific.
View Details
Click any badge to see its full description, issuer, and holders.
What You See
Each badge card shows:
- Badge image — the visual design
- Name and description — what the badge represents
- Issuer — who created it (with profile picture if available)
- Holder count — how many people have received it
Surf is fully public. You can browse all badges without logging in or having a Nostr identity.
Search and Filter
Text Search
Type in the search bar to find badges by name or description. Results update as you type.
Sort Options
- Newest — most recently created badges first (default)
- Most Popular — badges with the most holders first
Hide Broken Images
Some badges have image URLs that no longer work. The Hide broken images toggle (on by default) filters these out so you only see badges with working visuals.
Find a User
Click Find user to search for badges by a specific creator. Enter their:
- npub — Nostr public key in bech32 format
- Hex key — 64-character public key
- NIP-05 — a Nostr address like
name@domain.com
Badge Details
Click any badge card to open its detail panel. From here you can:
- See the full description and image
- View the issuer's profile
- Browse the list of holders
- Request the badge (if you're logged in and don't already have it)
Infinite Scroll
Badges load in batches as you scroll down. When you reach the bottom of the current results, more badges load automatically. You can also click Load more badges manually.
Hit the refresh button to reload badges from relays and see the latest additions.
What's Next?
Found a badge you want? You can request it directly from the issuer.
